ABSTRACT
Ivan Illich anticipated 50 years ago what is happening today and the options. This chapter applies his notion of the convivial society to the current social movements attempting to create a new world at the end of an era. The chapter also includes reflections on the so-called ‘commons movement’, which is trying to reclaim the commons enclosed by capitalism, regenerate those that survived, and create new commons.
