ABSTRACT

Freud’s self-analysis lacked a significant other in the therapeutic experience. Freud’s self-analysis, therefore, was seriously limited emotionally and interpersonally, neglecting to integrate his childhood trauma into his theory and practice. One would have expected Freud to have praised his favorite pupil, Sándor Ferenczi’s attempt to verify the seduction hypothesis in the development of the Confusion of Tongues paradigm. Freud neglected to integrate his own childhood sexual trauma into his theory, which prevented him from accepting Ferenczi’s Confusion of Tongues contribution.
