ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on Blind and Low Vision (BLV) students in the computer science department of a university in Japan. This university accepts only BLV students and Deaf, Hard of Hearing (DHH) students. Various assistive technologies used in the lectures of this computer science department are introduced, and topics in this chapter range from educational materials to supporting hardware and software, including special devices such as a refreshable tactile display that provides graphical information to blind students. Also, how the department supports students to find a job in the labour market in Japan and the unique background of the Japanese job-hunting custom is described.
