ABSTRACT

This chapter describes what happened in the author’s clinic when she had to close it down due to the Coronavirus restrictions. She describes the reactions among her patients and the process until and after the restrictions were lifted. The chapter contains the author’s reflections on her reactions and the gradual change in her attitude towards online work from a rather one-sided focus on the benefits of online work to a more balanced position. She looks into her own mild depression and finds an interesting and most helpful description in Jan Wiener’s expression with reference to the Argentinian psychoanalyst José Bleger of what happens when ‘the setting begins to weep.’ In the conclusion, the author describes how she is now back to the ‘old normal,’ albeit somehow changed.
