ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author discusses her professional experiences as a psychotherapist during the acute period of the pandemic. In her practice, she experienced significant differences in how clients reacted to the new life situation with its restrictive conditions and the looming threat: many in the form of anxiety, stress, depression, addictive behavior, uncontrolled emotional outbursts, intensified inner and outer conflicts, and more. Various therapy situations are presented. Emphasis is placed on issues of the setting and, in particular, on online sessions. The author makes reference to the large number of younger clients who came into therapy during the pandemic. The impact of the pandemic on the therapeutic process is considered separately, as well as the question of the analytic attitude in this particular time.
