ABSTRACT

This chapter describes two specific phenomena that we encounter when doing analysis via video systems. The first phenomenon described is the issue of analytical setting when analysands’ homes become part of the analytical setting. The chapter looks at what influence this aspect has on the process and how to work with it. The second phenomenon is the role of technology in analysis. The chapter addresses the questions of how it influences the analysis and how to deal with the problems that might emerge while using video systems. There are several phenomena that the author encountered when doing therapy in the time of COVID-19 and they are all very interesting to discuss. The Covid-19 pandemic is a tragic collective event, but also a collectively transformative event, which pushed us into virtual spaces and into the coming age of digitalisation. If digital technology was the domain of younger generations and IT enthusiasts before Covid-19, it has now become a reality for everyone.
