ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author focuses her talk on breath and breathing, emphasizing its being crucial for every living creature. She uses the atomic catastrophe of Chernobyl as an example for a slow change that occurred over the course of thirty years. In Germany it led to the strengthening of the Green party and the exit from nuclear energy. The author applies Erich Fromm’s theory of the father and mother complex to show how our behaviour prevents us from real change. As many feel restricted in their actions due to lockdown, she suggests to think of freedom rather not as the freedom to travel but taking care of oneself and beloved ones.
