ABSTRACT

Sleep as a state of unconsciousness gives up this moment of control. The author links this circumstance to the Coronavirus that lets us face death – a part of nature humankind fears deeply. She shares her observation that we would live in a society that is too concerned about the physical death. To that extend that by isolating during the pandemic some people sacrifice the health of the soul – the need to be in nature, to be active or social. In the last part of the talk, the author dives deep into the meaning of nightmares. The experience of a nightmare is a soul in distress, as she puts it. It sometimes can be that intense that a physical reaction occurs. But, according to the Jungian, nightmares can disappear when its meaning is depicted. Or: An uninterpreted dream is a letter that has not been read yet.
