ABSTRACT

The Hall of Mirrors reflects, diffracts and diffuses academic life at its best and at its worst. Each turn in this fairground attraction will bring you in front of different shaped and sized mirrors. The reflections you encounter may make you smile, laugh, cry or cringe in horror. Such reactions might help you to reflect on what you wish to keep and to change in your own academic lives. The mirrors also diffuse the ideas, mixed experiences and inspirations of the gallery’s authors. You will find reflections of the tensions and contradictions, the doubts and fears but also the hopes and possibilities of different academic lives. The portraits in this gallery also demonstrate how academic light diffracts around obstacles and through cracks and that even shattered mirrors keep reflecting in their own way.
