ABSTRACT

Linear and curvilinear sprinting underpin performance in many sports. Technical development in this domain, whilst not an end in itself, can support performance development and injury risk reduction. Understanding the task and the athlete’s own physical qualities and emergent movement preferences enables the implementation of individualised interventions to influence movement strategy and performance. This chapter takes a case study approach to highlight the identification of individual needs with associated interventions directed at shifting individual movement preferences over time with a focus on performance as an end demand of the process.
