ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on risk management of NewSpace activities and more particularly in-orbit servicing missions. These new missions need to be specifically addressed in terms of transfer of risk to the insurance market and also in terms of what type of support the insurance market may provide to sustain the development of such missions. This chapter encompasses the possible ways to address this issue and the main constraints in respect of insuring in-orbit missions. As these missions will be more and more developed and used in the very near future, the involvement of the insurance community will be key to secure the interests of the in-orbit service providers and their customers.
