ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the case study of the field practicum at Kadambari Memorial College (KMC) and the impact of its new approach. A triangulation method of data collection is used to validate the outcome and verify the impact. Based on in-depth interviews of 13 final-year students, three field work supervisors, and a comparison of student grades, the outcome is found to be encouraging. With their knowledge and capacity to perform, the students left a positive impression on their agencies. The field work supervisors found the students growing with each semester in terms of competence, and noticed high demonstrability in their final three placements. Some students received letters of appreciation from agencies. Five of the students received job offers before completion of their final examination. All students successfully completed their practicum with a 80% to 90% plus score. The student interviews, supervisory assessment, agency appreciation, and job offers show the positive impact of the CB fieldwork practicum at KMC and provide evidence of its efficiency over AB learning in giving clear and organised guidance and direction in the attainment of the competencies.
