ABSTRACT
How might playwrights encourage kinship? Working from an experiential activity, this exercise asks writers to first notice and then draw themselves into greater relationship with the world around them using an object to help create an imaginative ecosystem. This exercise sits at the confluence of three different influences—liminality, bioregionalism, and nature writing—and encourages us to see places as the generative material in plays.
