ABSTRACT
This chapter is noteworthy because it provides us an inside view of the way in which the Minnesota Department of Health has shaped the response to the pandemic by involving key actors from the LGBTQ+ community and using SOGI data to direct activity. The chapter was derived from two interviews with Jeremy Hanson Willis, Executive Director, Rainbow Health Minnesota (RHM)—the largest LGBTQ+ service organization in the state. Jeremy has been a member since February 2020 of the Health Equity Advisory Leadership (HEAL) Council, which provides advice and counsel to the Minnesota Department of Health Commissioner, Jan Malcolm.
