ABSTRACT

Despite the infusion of over $4.7 trillion in federal assistance, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a devasting impact on low-income and minority populations including LGBTQ citizens. This chapter provides an overview of 20 federal policies in the United States designed to mitigate the pandemic, followed by an analysis of the policy impact on LGBTQIA citizens in three core policy areas: (1) employment, (2) medical care, and (3) personal finances and hunger. Policy recommendations to reduce the impact of COVID on LGBTQIA citizens in these three policy domains are identified and described.
