ABSTRACT

Entrepreneurship plays a vital role in shaping futures and our economies, yet the challenges of sustainability and technology ask a crucial question: how do we nurture new qualities of entrepreneurship that bridge environmental and societal wellbeing—renewing it as a ‘change agent’ ready for uncertain contexts? This ongoing research proposes using the design studio as a democratic learning space. We see the studio as a pedagogic framework, where we can begin to explore ‘new practices’, applying them within three prototypes of ‘Seasonal Schools’ for sustainable economics students and faculty across four higher education institutions (HEI) in Europe and Southeast Asia. We experiment with integrating studio design methodologies with entrepreneurial pedagogies developing insights into how design can nurture qualities that embrace complexity and ambiguity. The aim being that design becomes a pedagogic catalyst within entrepreneurship learning, renewing the role of entrepreneurs towards agents of holistic collaborative change.
