ABSTRACT
This chapter presents synthesis of learning from across all the case studies. Also of importance is the skill, knowledge, and expertise to manage the development of the output(s) in a way that is open and directed by the users. This is required to be carefully balanced with the correct selection of appropriate methods to allow the project to meet its planned aims and objectives, while permitting enough ‘space’ for users to have an appropriate amount of ownership of both the process and output(s). Tools for specifically measuring success and failures of design-led approaches are limited and we start this section with a call to other researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to look to develop these and to define parameters for design-led approaches. Accessibility of outcomes was highlighted as being crucial – users of the developed intervention need to be able to have easy access to the output, as well as find it easy to use.
