ABSTRACT
In this chapter, Albert Narath tells the story of a little known but influential contributor to the 1970s environmental movement in architecture. Focusing on John Reynolds, an architect and educator at the University of Oregon, Narath relates how Reynolds reimagined environmental systems in architecture education and, through his own activism, presciently framed energy use and thermal comfort in architecture as important ethical and political debates.
