ABSTRACT
This chapter, by Caroline Maniaque, offers a case study of the influence of American architecture education abroad. The essay traces the impacts of study at the University of Pennsylvania on three French students—Marc Emery, Bernard Huet, and Jacques Fredet. Through their experiences, Maniaque illuminates what Europeans found distinctive about American architecture education and American cultural conditions and ambitions.
