ABSTRACT

Since the end of 2019, the COVID-19 pandemic has severely impacted the public medical system. The unprecedented impact of the pandemic on the economy and labor market has led to the most serious global crisis since World War II. People in Taiwan have experienced significant changes in work and life. The current essay discusses how individuals adapted to these challenging events creatively and how a new work and life mode emerged in the midst of this crisis. We created a short, open-ended questionnaire survey to assess the difficulties people perceived and how they cope with the difficulties and 379 people responded. The results of a content analysis indicated three categories of difficulties people perceived and four types of coping strategies. These newly developed work and lifestyle patterns indicated how people sought to cope with COVID-19. More details are discussed regarding how coping strategies were created.
