ABSTRACT

In this essay, we introduce the rationale and structure of the book entitled Rethinking Work: Essays about Building a Better Workplace. The changing landscape of work is reviewed, highlighting unemployment/underemployment, precarious work, The Great Resignation, automation and robotics, and marginalization at work. The conceptual structure of the chapter themes is presented along with an overview of the goals of this collection of essays. The overarching agenda of this book is presented as serving as a transformational contribution that will inform work-based reform efforts and social change to create a more humane and just workplace.
