ABSTRACT

The aim of this book is to address one of the long-standing questions in philosophy, namely, the question of truth, but to do so by looking at it through the lens of practice rather than theory. The introduction poses the problem of what we may call “practices of truth” in philosophy, namely, disparate philosophical approaches that establish a close connection between truth and practice (in their multifarious dimensions), or even see truth itself as a sort of practice. Moreover, the introduction provides an overview of the specific issues explored in the chapters collected in this book. The contributions offer an extensive, yet cohesive, collection of perspectives on practices of truth across different areas of philosophy and across geographically and historically diverse philosophical traditions, including traditions that are less frequently considered in discussions about truth.
