ABSTRACT

In Poland, as in many other states around the world, populists have come to power in recent years. As such, Poland can no longer be described as a liberal democracy. In this chapter, the approach of the Polish illiberal state towards homelessness is explored. Bearing in mind that another illiberal state in the region, Hungary, has adopted a hostile and discriminatory attitude towards homelessness, this chapter seeks to establish whether there is now a single illiberal Central European approach to homelessness.
