ABSTRACT

This chapter talks about the present and future of hate speech and the different roles AI is already play in it. The Al-re-co project is a good example of the Spanish public sector’s attempt to fight hate speech online, in particular on Twitter and Facebook. From a technical perspective, the goal is to build an algorithm that would be able—thanks to the indicators, elaborated on the basis of the words, expressions, phrases and other linguistic means that are being used to spread racist, xenophobic, Islamophobic and anti-Semitic hate speech—to identify hate speech on these social networks. The chapter addresses the idea that in the future, AI technologies will contribute to creating a new social group which will represent a new target for (online and offline) haters. In terms of AI, transhumanism sees it as a way to potential human beings through tools, but in the future, also by connecting the human brain to different objects and the Internet itself.
