ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on illustrations in Israeli picture books about the Shoah from the last two decades (2000–2020) as representations of the postmemory of the Shoah. Although children book illustration is an important field of study within the field of children’s literature, it is often neglected in the studies of children’s Holocaust literature. Therefore, although illustrations are known to be significant mediators, there is lack of discussion about illustration in Israeli Holocaust picture books. This chapter tries to fill this gap by studying the construction of postmemory through book illustrations.
