ABSTRACT

Classroom management is a critical aspect of teaching and education. Classroom management often has a reputation of mitigating student behaviors while they happen; however, much of the success in classroom management comes down to prevention and the climate of classroom that is fostered before behaviors arise. This chapter explores preventative strategies for classroom management, such as classroom space recommendations, classroom expectations, and mind-body health strategies. This chapter will provide practitioners with direct skills and recommendations for interventions and considerations to take directly into their classrooms. The presented strategies can aid teachers to cultivate a positive learning environment where students can learn skills to regulate both their emotions and behavior. Overall, classroom management aids in the delivery of instruction, which will foster both student achievement and well-being.
