ABSTRACT

Illustrating the sequential process of how the research was conducted, I begin by discussing the philosophical assumptions that inform my practice and the ongoing reflexivity exercised throughout this book. This is followed by a discussion on mixed-methods, reconciling the paradigmatic differences of qualitative and quantitative work, by adhering to interpretivism while appreciating the theoretical responsibility of using a quantitative method. Details about why and how participants were selected are then discussed, before outlining the analytical procedures of thematic analysis. Next, the way in which research is represented is discussed, possible criteria to judge this work are offered, and the ethical considerations of undertaking this research conclude this chapter. At each stage, as part of making informed choices, I provide a rationale and justification for the methods used.
