ABSTRACT

Having been informed by a broad range of experiences in both qualitative and quantitative phases, this book comprehensively presents an empirically grounded representation of Singapore's sports culture, the elite ecosystem, and its influence on the practice of sport psychology. In drawing this book to a close, this chapter summarises the key empirical and methodological contributions conceived through the research process, with practical implications and recommendations for future research. It must be noted that I elected to focus on the meaning and possible limitations of this research specific to the context of its intended application, being sport in Singapore. This is contrary to normative practices, that simply focus on how interviews are subject to memory recall bias or that self-report measures are prone to social desirability bias, and may have little meaning beyond admitting to the intrinsic imperfections of various research methods.
