ABSTRACT
The purpose of this course can be broken down into two main objectives: developing a working vocabulary and learning how to research. As theatre designers and production persons, we do not necessarily get to know a region or time period until we have a production set in that particular time or place. We are constantly focusing on microcosms of societies and cultures that need to be directly represented on stage for a specific production. This version of the class is focused on developing the skills and resources that students will need in the field to research and present that research to others while also learning some of the basic vocabulary one would come across in their research of a time and place. These skills are developed through a global overview of clothing and society in various times and places, focusing on specific regions.
