ABSTRACT
On the basis of two case vignettes, the analytic path is described from the gradual transference of the patient’s respective depressive system to the analyst until its transformation. The author describes her analysis of the depressive shadow experienced in the countertransference, which becomes possible only when it is in line with the patient’s depressive system. The interpretations of the depressive system experienced in the identification with the patient in the here and now of the analytic sessions in connection with incoming material from the biography, the past hours, the patient’s dreams, etc., level the patient’s way out of the shadow blocking the life light to his ego.
