ABSTRACT
Sevastopol City is situated at the south-western tip of the Crimean Peninsula. The Black Sea lies to the west and the Republic of Crimea to the east. The territory’s major river is the Chorna. Sevastopol was a stronghold of support for the Bolsheviks during the civil war after the revolutions of 1917. Sevastopol, though a separate administrative unit, with the rest of the Crimean peninsula, was transferred from Russian to Ukrainian jurisdiction in 1954. In November 2016 the City Legislative Assembly adopted an amendment to the City Charter providing for the introduction of direct gubernatorial elections. The Republic of Adygeya is situated in the foothills of the Greater Caucasus, a landlocked region in the basin of the Kuban river, surrounded by Krasnodar Krai.
