In this chapter, we focus on describing the explosive use of multiple social media platforms within South Korea and other Asian countries and link the consequences to consumers’ health behaviors and decision-making processes. Since social media’s reach is widespread and instantaneous, we close the chapter with recommendations on how nurses and healthcare organizations need to adapt in this social media-driven world. Social media could be used to monitor disease outbreaks, support a community health crisis, enhance the delivery of care and generate nursing knowledge. Additionally, we call for clear and focused guidelines to be established for nurses who take the initiative in delivering health information and care through social media.
