ABSTRACT
This chapter will share the journey of the author, as she discovers within herself and within the museums the capacity to inspire perspective shift, behavior change, and intentionally foster empathy in our world. Her “flourishing in museums” is a personal journey augmented by several transformative museum experiences and is intertwined with the journey of those museums exploring empathy within themselves, for their communities, and all of humanity and the environment. Those transformative museum experiences and encounters, as well as museums with exemplary empathy-building work, will be articulated within the context of their critical roles in our collective journey and the potential they represent toward the humanity’s flourishing into empathy and oneness.
