ABSTRACT

A legal notion at the beginning, responsibility has become a principle of action which has progressively been extended to all domains, from individual to collective action. This text offers an approach of the notion of responsibility which is anchored in information and communication sciences. It refers also to Paul Ricœur’s philosophical work, which underlines the development of both the moral and political dimension of the concept of responsibility, as it can be seen at work in the economic sphere through the implementation of so-called corporate social responsibility policies. We make the assumption that a certain number of features shared by the economic and political spheres as to responsibility – which is the sign of an increasingly visible porosity between the different social worlds – may be revealed.
