ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book provides accessible ways of engaging with agential realism through informal conversations; secondly a large quantity of the text is written by postgraduate students, whose chapters offer examples of agential realism’s use in various contexts and disciplinary backgrounds. It also provides an opportunity for emerging and more established scholars to show how such an event could have ongoing rippling æffects on their work and thinking. The book is also written to inspire alternative pedagogies and ways of organising research seminars – more in line with its philosophy – a doing of posthumanism in the organisation of events. It documents some of the conversations that took place between Karen and the other participants, and provides a forum for the participants to re-turn to their presentations and considers how Karen’s work has continued to influence their research endeavours.
