ABSTRACT

This case study examines caregiver perceptions of their child’s use of screens during the COVID-19 pandemic as evidenced by photos or videos and narratives shared with the researchers via social media. Analyses indicate caregivers identify virtual meetings as the primary use for screens and technologies, with a little direct discussion of how they support their young child’s reading, writing, and participation on web-based platforms with a range of media content. A call for media mentorship at home and in formal and informal school contexts in which children aged three to eight years are engaging, learning, and socially interacting concludes the chapter.
