ABSTRACT

This chapter explores how media education is being shaped and reshaped in Pakistan during the turbulent times marred by the Covid-19 pandemic. This novel situation has posed multifaceted problems for educational establishments and academicians of developing countries like Pakistan who are already battling with issues such as lack of funding for media education, limited broadband internet access, non-affordability of media gadgets, the inadequacy of educational technologies, and deficiency of proper training for faculty members. It is argued that the pandemic has given a fresh impetus to the culture of teaching and will transform the traditional pedagogical methods used in delivering media education. The analysis provides support for the premise that this crisis has paradoxically provided opportunities to academia and can be used to upgrade media education standards. Finally, recommendations are given to improve the state of media education in the post-pandemic scenario.
