ABSTRACT

This chapter begins with an interview with the filmmaker, producer and writer Thomasina Gibson, who shows us that learning about ourselves and our creativity can be considered from two interconnected positions: the individual and the reciprocal. Thomasina acknowledges that our learning does not just take place in isolation, but rather in collaboration with others. The chapter suggests that mapping networks and relationships, from the perspective of personal and professional support, can offer a sense of connection and community that can inform and support women’s creative lives. This is followed by a transcripted (and edited) dialogue between the two authors where they reflect on the book, their collaboration and what they know about their creativity now and where this might take them next. This enables them to value their own connection and community as a scaffold for future work. They suggest that a process of dialogue and making has helped them to devise creative outputs – including this book – that they hope will extend their own community of practice.
