ABSTRACT

This chapter comprises a conversation with artist and actor Irene Marot and an essay considering what personal impetus it is that motivates us to make art and reminding us that sustaining this desire to be creative is not something to be taken for granted, but rather something that needs to be nurtured, encouraged and sustained. The implication here is that to do this requires a remapping of the way we view our lives that places creativity at the heart of our decision making and of finding the courage to make the changes to our lives so that we can give our creativity what it needs, what it deserves. Irene is an advocate for centring your creative life and seeing it as what you do, who you are – intrinsic to your identity and worthy of time and effort.
