ABSTRACT

Brick kiln is one of the most prominent industries that employ seasonal migrant workers. As in India, the brick kiln operation mainly relies on labour-intensive method of production with very little machinery use. Brick kiln industry employs all kinds of workers, including women and children; generally associate migrant, actually benefit both the family and the employer in earning extra from them. This paper intends to describe how the living and working conditions affect the status of health of the seasonal migrant workers employed in brick kilns. The paper is based on my previous research work and explores the effect of living and working conditions on the health status of seasonal migrant workers working in brick kiln in West Bengal.
