ABSTRACT

This final section, which is metaphorically an exit strategy from a long, orchestrated piece composed of multiple voices, is divided into two parts. Explaining the ‘heroic couplet’ scheme of the subsections of the volume, its first part “Pathogenic Implosions: Heroic Couplets, Tragic Times” discloses the rationale of the subsections in this volume. As heroic verse/couplet has come to present a concise, restrained, and aesthetic means in literature from the Antiquity to this day, each subsection begins and ends with one distinct chapter, both focusing on one single aspect of the posthuman character of diseases. This first part, therefore, navigates diverse discussions of the volume, indulging in different literary and mediatic texts like The Iliad, Oedipus Rex, Canterbury Tales, The Dunciad, Severance, The Walking Dead, and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (all of which have a touch of contagion). The second part of this CODA, entitled “Further Conversations over Posthuman Pathogeneses,” invites the contributors of the volume to a round-table discussion on Ağın’s two sets of questions. Wandering through the answers to the first question of what influenced contributors in this book’s writing process, this section wonders for us all ‘the future’ at the intersection of medical, environmental, and posthumanities.
