ABSTRACT

Individuals belonging to marginalized groups in society are often discriminated against and dehumanized across contexts, which hurts their educational, career, economic, and health outcomes. To promote better social conditions and improve such outcomes for these groups, it is important to develop interventions that reduce discrimination and social exclusion and foster social inclusion and belonging. In this chapter, we introduce so-called “social norms interventions” as a promising method for improving intergroup relations and promoting equity and inclusion.
