ABSTRACT

In addition to the performance of certain rituals, Islam includes a particular way of life. It provides us with detailed guidance on how to live nearly every aspect of our life. Despite the fact that modernization and economic progress have taken the lead in social administration, Muslim communities remain directed by Islamic principles. This shows that our roles and obligations as Muslims and as citizens are obvious with regard to the consumption that is the primary cause of environmental issues. Most Islamic nations have poor waste management practices due to cultural norms and beliefs that discourage recycling, and it has been openly highlighted. This chapter discusses the current practices of waste management as well as the beneficial roles that an authentic Islamic understanding can play through the Qur’an and the Sunnah. This is fundamental in terms of preventing uneconomical consumption and maintaining ethical manners to resolve global environmental health problems due to ineffective waste management.
