ABSTRACT

There has been substantial growth in Islamic tourism around the world. With its growing importance, a greater understanding of the need of Islamic travelers is required to satisfy such tourists. Our study proposes a framework on which “Halal Certification for Hotels” can be based for the benefit of tourists, hotels, and other stakeholders. For this purpose, a quantitative technique involving factor analysis was applied to the data collected through a self-administered questionnaire for identifying the essential hotel attributes listed under hotel room amenities and hotel facilities. The study results recommend a Shari’ah-compliant framework for hotel operations and provide the basis for Halal certifications for satisfying the need of Muslim travelers.
