ABSTRACT

Malaysia, as a Muslim country, is responsible for establishing a high-quality Islamic healthcare system. With the belief that compliance with Islamic Shari’ah in operation is the best framework for any practice, there is an imminent need to transform and develop the system into an observable and objective-based healthcare system. Shari’ah-compliant healthcare facilities are designed to offer Muslim patients with medical treatment that complies with Islamic values, such as halal medicine. The purpose of this study includes but is not limited to proposing and examining the operation of a Shari’ah-compliant hospital in Malaysia to improvise hospital management. Value-based Management System – Requirement from Islamic Perspective MS 2300:2009 and Shari’ah-based Quality Management System (MS) 1900:2014 are published by Malaysian standards, and it is the known manual standard in Malaysia, which is the focus of this study. Both standards are mainly used by the Malaysian Shari’ah-compliant hospital as a reference in their organization. To treat patients, the hospital components often involve a team of individuals with specific medical experts who use existing technologies and work processes. These job processes are being converted into standard operating procedures (SOP). Standards are upheld, and Shari’ah principles in all key elements are applied. Each standard manual enlightens the overall Shari’ah requirement in both management and services, which explains the components of Shari’ah-compliant hospitals in Malaysia. An-Nur Specialist Hospital was appointed as a pilot project.
