ABSTRACT
Production management involves the functions of production planning, supervision, and controlling of both manufacturing and service organizations. It consists of a process of conversion from inputs to outputs. It has various terminologies, such as Operations Management, Engineering Management, Manufacturing Management, etc. In a materialistic world, production management has been perceived as a very important issue. The pervasiveness of production management depends on the wideness of industrialization. The economic development of any country relies on production management. Islam has given concrete guidelines on various types of products and the rules and activities of their production, which are closely involved with the livelihood of human beings. Indeed, Islam gives an explicit direction for each and every affair. The main objective of this study is to discuss the different issues of production management from an Islamic perspective. In the last section of this chapter, the industrialization issue from an Islamic perspective is discussed.
