ABSTRACT
Thesis: architecture school crits serve to enforce a regime of symbolic goods. Because their worth is arbitrary (not being deduced from any universal principle), it must be produced using a certain kind of force, namely the self-concealing symbolic violence which is characteristic of the exercise of institutional power.
