ABSTRACT
This chapter gives a phenomenological account of illness: an account of stable experiences of being ill as they appear across distinct illnesses. Carel explains being ill as a particular way of existing in the world. Despite noted differences between disability and illness, the chapter aims to determine whether resources in disability studies can be useful for giving a rich phenomenology of illness.
