ABSTRACT

To be happy, in spite of the situation, is a basic desire of human beings everywhere. What is observed generally is that a person’s happiness tends to depend on positive life situations. To be happy and feel satisfied with life in negative situations is a gift, a grace, and a spiritual strength. The COVID-19 pandemic which shook the world left many with negative experiences like the demise of dear ones, poverty, loss of job and livelihood, and isolation. A conscious connectivity to a higher being/consciousness is spirituality. It plays a crucial role in finding meaning within dire circumstances. Happiness and wellness are the result of the inner peace emerging from relatedness to the higher consciousness. This study illustrates the relatedness of spirituality with happiness and overall well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic. A quantitative method was used for data collection. The population for the study is Garo women in Chhaygaon, Guwahati, who were chosen from eight villages through snowball sampling. Descriptive statistics were used to find out the characteristics, and the tools utilised were survey forms and questionnaire. The present study focuses on happiness and overall well-being and its association with spirituality. Some methods to improve spirituality are also suggested.
