ABSTRACT

This chapter details the experience of using a global simulation technique on the SpatialChat platform for students studying Russian as a foreign language (RFL) at the A2–B1 level. The chapter begins by explaining the relevance of this pedagogical technique in RFL classes, as well as substantiating the feasibility of online simulations. We analyze the concept of “global simulation technique” by outlining its content and defining the possibilities, advantages, and disadvantages of the SpatialChat digital platform, which allows students and teachers to interact remotely in a virtual space that is commonly used and very similar to reality. The chapter then describes in detail the simulation “Odnokashniki” and provides detailed methodological recommendations based on our experience of conducting classes on the SpatialChat platform, which can be used by teachers of RFL as a non-traditional and entertaining way of facilitating speaking.
